Hand crafted concepts.
J.Wood Creative is home to me, Jonny Wood, freelance graphic designer and website designer covering all aspects of design for print and design for the web.
I believe design concepts should be hand-crafted, moulded into shape through research and discussion to understand exactly what is required and why.
With this understanding, an original and successful design solution can be reached across all media to ensure a strong, consistant end product that gets results.

Brochure design.
Less infoCoupled with online marketing, the Hatters produce a range of printed promotional material including DL sized flyers and brochures – a standard format which fits into the majority of leaflet displays in tourist information offices and other hostels.
This is the latest brochure, designed for the whole Hatters Group, which holds details on all four hostels. A lot of content was required including information on each hostel and city plus suitable images and photography – this was a real challenge given the strict format of the brochure.
The finished article achieves a good balance between written and visual communication and expresses the young and lively character of the Hatters Group.

Less infoWhen approached to design a new brand or logo design I thoroughly research the company, their services or products, the target market and the industry or sector.
This information is vital in creating a successful brand that fits the brief.
Custom graphics are drawn and developed and most typefaces will be manipulated to create a truly original identity design.

Website Design.
Less infoThe Collective is a design agency that provides a range of creative disciplines spanning architecture, film, image, graphics, photography and website design.
In essence the site is a showcase of work, but it also houses a blog where The Collective can promote current projects and open up a channel of communication with clients.

Book Cover Design.
Less infoMy favourite of three book covers I have designed for J.L. Publishing. The book is about the representation of women in Disney's feature animations. The brief demanded an illustrative solution to suit the title.
Copyright issues greatly restricted design options, the final solution provides a synecdochical yet instantly recognisable model of a "good girl" and a "wicked witch". The book is summarised by illustrating only the hands of two contrasting female characters.
The illustration is reinforced by two opposing typefaces used within the title.
