Client: JL Publishing.
JL Publishing is based in the United Kingdom, and publishes a range of books and journals for researchers, academics, students and professionals in the fields of Cinema, Animation and Media.
I have now produced three different book cover designs for JL Publishing.

JL Publishing book covers.
Less infoThe first of three book cover designs uses an illustration to capture a recognisable feature of a certain Tex Avery character.
Strict copyright issues greatly restricted design options, and so the illustration provides a suitable and striking image to capture the viewers attention.

JL Publishing book covers.
Less infoThis book is about the representation of women in Disney's feature animations and the brief demanded an illustrative solution to suit the title.
As with the first book, copyright issues greatly restricted design options, the final solution provides a synecdochical yet instantly recognisable model of a "good girl" and a "wicked witch". The book is summarised by illustrating only the hands of two contrasting female characters.
The illustration is reinforced by two opposing typefaces used within the title.

Less infoHere the author had selected an image he wanted to incorporate into the design but was after something more graphical.
The approved design solution plays on the title of the book 'Rise and Fall..' with a digital graphic equaliser masking the image.
The typography and layout align with the visual elements as part of the brief was to balance graphics and type.
